Use knowledge, generalise, transfer
Children`s knowledge and their abilities become more finely tuned so that they are able to generalise and transfer the information they have learnt to solve new problems that arise. They now understand more complex rules when playing.
They become interested in the associations and processes of nature: Which material is suitable for what? What happens if...?
It is exciting to learn to tell the time. Their newly acquired sense of time is now the basis of understanding daily routines and seasonal occurrances found in the calender. Their knowledge of numbers is extended from 1-20.
Vocabulary and speech improve steadily: their grammer is mostly correct and they gradually become interested in the letters of the alphabet.
Many children are excited about starting school and are proud to be so independent. Starting school is an earnest part of life so it is particularly important that the children have fun playing and that their imagination continues to be promoted.
